Shmuel Yarhinaah was Rabbi's physician. Rabbi suffered from an eye problem. Shmuel said to Rabbi, “I will apply this medication.” Rabbi said, “I can’t do it.”

 “I will lightly apply it.”

“I can’t do that either.”

He applied by using a tube positioned under Rabbi’s pillow and he was cured. Rabbi took pains to ordain him, but it just never happened. Shmuel said to him, “Don’t bother yourself, sir, I saw in the book of Adam the first human that it was written, ‘Shemuel Yarhinaah shall be called ‘wise’ but ‘rabbi’ he will not be called, and the cure for Rabbi will happen by his hand.” Baba Metzia  85:
